Leaders Meeting Minutes - September 2009, 7 PM
Leaders in attendance: Janet Coleman, Dave Frantze, Greg Heiman, Charlie Huffman, John Travis, Darin Kamradt, Beth Liston, Mike Foster, Ron Jurgeson, Dave Belzer, Susan Belzer, and Luanne Huffman
Ron gave the Scoutmaster report. The patrols have been reconfigured. Everything else is going well.
Beth Liston presented the Treasurer’s report. She presented the final 2008-09 fiscal financial results of a small profit of $246.62 assuming $1,200 for the four boys who worked on staff at summer camp. Greg Heiman motioned to pay each boy $300 for their work at summer camp. Janet Coleman 2nd the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Beth then presented the 2009-10 proposed budget. The budget assumes a registration fee of $115 per boy, and $15 per adult. The budget was reviewed in detail. Dave Frantze motioned to set the youth registration fee at $115, and the adult registration fee at $15. Greg Heiman 2nd the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Beth also presented the current month financial report with a balance of $11,741.75.
There was discussion about upcoming pancake breakfast. Darin will send out the work schedule soon. The Knights of Columbus are having a fundraising dinner on the Saturday night before our pancake breakfast. The Parish and the Knights have offered to share an insert in the Sunday bulletin. We will be purchasing our food for the pancake breakfast from the Restaurant Depot instead of US Foods or Sysco. We are hoping to save some money and maintain the food quality.
There was discussion of the race weekend flyer distribution fundraiser. We are putting flyers on the cars at the Kansas Raceway on both Saturday and Sunday. Darin will distribute a schedule of who will work which day and when to meet where.
Greg discussed the Camporee campout in October and the Watkins Mill campout in November. Greg will allow someone to use his truck to pull the trailer to the Camporee campout. The Belzers will allow the Troop to borrow a trailer to haul the bicycles to the Watkins Mill campout.
Greg discussed Sea Base 2009, everything is on track. Darin discussed Philmont 2010 and indicated that he has payments for two youth and one adult. Dave Frantze indicated that he has an adult from another Troop who would go on the trek. Based on the adults who have actually paid, Dave will tell the other adult to plan on going.
Spencer Pelant has been assigned the Chaplain Aide and will assist Dave Frantze and Patty Jurgeson in leading a Pope Pius XII religious emblem group.
Ron gave an update on the current Eagle activities. Two Life Scouts are planning on having Eagle projects on Oct 17th and Oct 24th. The next Eagle Court of Honor will be on Dec 12th, and should have 4 or 5 Eagle Scouts. Both Josh B. and Ben J. are Eagle coordinator assistants.
The Troop received notice that Fred DeFeo passed away recently and suddenly. Luanne Huffman recommended that the Troop do something in memory of Fred. A motion was made and seconded to donate $100 in to the appropriate charity in memoriam. All were in favor.
